Little Hands

Today started out all wrong. I was woken up at 3am to the sound of loud running water. It took me a minute to realize I wasn’t dreaming…but Stella sure was. Yes, she was “poppin a squat” right next to my bed. At least for her sake…I told myself she was sleepwalking and dreaming. Not cool.

I was organizing all my sewing machine stuff this afternoon. It has been taking over my dining room table and I hate looking at it! Ava always wants to help me clean. Let’s see how long that lasts! But I have a hard time assigning her things to do. I’m set in my ways and processes when it comes to cleaning. But, today I found the perfect chore for her! Her little fingers are the perfect size to dust in between small openings…AWESOME!
Tomorrow I am going to search the house high and low for those little slots! No telling what I’m going to find!

Tonight’s dinner was a Turkey and Vegtable Quiche. It took a lot of prep work with all the fresh veggies!

And of course…the onions made Layla cry again!

By the way…they were NOT barefoot tonight! I made them put on clean socks before they could climb up on the counter!

The meat mixture was ground turkey, red pepper, green onions and broccoli. The meat mixture alone was delish! I was really impressed. We had enough of it left over that I am going to make breakfast tacos in the morning with it. Ava is really excited!
Then we poured the eggs on top and then finished it off with cheese! Yes, we probably used more cheese than normal!
Ready to to bake!
While the Quiche was baking the girls had a shower and I made homemade garlic bread. (Ava asked to not have her picture taken in her robe! Good for her!) The first thing we made before starting the Quiche was a spring salad…that way the olive oil and vinegar dressing had time to work it’s magic in the fridge.

Dinner…
And the biggest reward of all…
Layla eating! She LOVED IT. She ate her entire dinner…all. That’s huge for Layla. She kept talking about how good it was. And then when she learned she could have ice cream for desert…she danced and sang around the house for 5 minutes! She never gets desert since she never eats her dinner! Good thing we have enough Quiche for leftovers tomorrow!

The moral of all this cooking with the girls…I really enjoy it. Our girls are so independent, they don’t even want to play games with me. But when it comes to cooking with them…they start asking in the morning what we are having for dinner and then constantly ask when it’s time to start dinner. I love it and I love getting that time to spend with them.
