Sunday Fun! Oscars and Cooking...

This morning when I was watching the news, they were having a segment about the “Royal Wedding” and excitement. Well, I am definitely one of those people that can’t wait! So much so that I almost downloaded the “countdown” app on my iPhone. Then I had to sit and think about how retarded I would be if I actually purchased the app and spent money on something so stupid. OK, it wouldn’t be first stupid app I purchased, I do have 5-0 radio and am ashamed I enjoy listening to the scanners.

Tonight I will be watching the Oscars. I am not a movie fan…in fact I actually don’t really enjoy movies. But, I want to see all the pretty dresses and the reporters make fools of themselves while they try to snag an interview. Silly people!

We had dinner for lunch today. I thought it would be a fun change for the girls…well and for me…that way I had the rest of the day to do nothing except referee fights, clean up paint, fold some clothes, chase Cali while trying to get a sock out of her mouth…OK, so maybe I didn’t get to be lazy. But I am sitting right now…

Layla was my helper today, Ava was too busy being her artist self…3 hours later and she’s still painting!

So, Layla and I started off making Zucchini Bread!

This was ALMOST a disaster!

She gets so excited for the mixer. My Dad thinks she’s going to end up being a Chef. Maybe!

This bread was so easy to make! My friend Paula Deen says you can change up the recipe for apples as well. That sounds yummy!

Ready for the oven! Layla sat by the oven door for almost the entire hour they were baking!

The finished product! They turned out great! One loaf went into the freezer…the other, we enjoyed a slice for desert and will have with breakfast tomorrow! It’s a winner of a recipe! And for it being a Paula Deen recipe…NO BUTTER! YAY!

And tonight’s dinner was a classic Sunday family dinner! And I did it all for Buppa! I love you Buppa and hope you can taste it through the computer…

Oven Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy and Corn!

I must be craving “semi” fried food! I have fried dinner twice this week and never before then! This has got to stop!

I used chicken tenders…I don’t use bone in meat. I’m sure I’ll get there someday! For my first time ever making “fried” chicken, it was great! Except for my recipe…I did it again! I went to start dinner, started reading the recipe and it said to soak the chicken in buttermilk for 24 hours! This time around I just skipped that and let it soak for an hour!

The chicken only fried for about 3 minutes, enough to get light brown in color and then they were baked the rest of the time. It’s another winning recipe in our house! The girls loved it! I loved it and I know Jason will be excited!

I’ll post both the Bread and Chicken recipe with all the other recipes.

***A little side note after yesterday’s snow trip…my arm is so sore! I think I was throwing snowballs like a baseball! Ow!
